The Scent of the Earth

"St. Marie de la Mer, a village in southern France. It was May 24th, St. Sarah's day, who, according to the legend, sailed from Palestine at the end of the 15th century. She came with the gypsies. And today, six hundred years later, they gather again. They come from everywhere to honour their black goddess. You can see the looks in their eyes and hear the passion tingling at the rim of the tongue. You sense the slightly uncertain mystery; and then you come to the church to join their singing. The music becomes your heart, giving rhythm to the soul."
